Capacity Building Program on “Weaving Indigenous Textiles”

ACIC-SGTU conducted a 2-day capacity-building program on “weaving indigenous textiles” providing hands-on learning opportunities to interested individuals to acquire the necessary skills to start their own venture and become self-empowered. This type of training is particularly valuable for unskilled workers, as it equips them with the tools, they need to earn a livelihood and improve their quality of life.

The specific theme for this session was the development of handmade, eco-friendly handbags and home decor items. This focus on environmentally friendly products reflects a growing awareness of sustainable practices and the need to reduce our ecological footprint. Handmade products often involve less energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint associated with mass production. By promoting the creation of eco-friendly handbags and home decor items, ACIC-SGTU is encouraging participants to use materials and production processes that are environmentally friendly and minimize harm to the planet.

ACIC-SGTU introduced a community and student development program as part of this initiative. By collaborating with skilled artisans who have undergone the training, the students of SGT University will have the opportunity to work with them to sell the products made by artisans and earn revenue. This approach fosters a robust business and entrepreneurial ecosystem, where both students and the community can learn and earn.

Overall, this program not only provides valuable training and income-generating opportunities for individuals but also promotes community engagement and sustainable entrepreneurship. ACIC-SGTU continuously working towards empowering individuals and fostering economic development in a socially and environmentally conscious manner.
