ACIC-SGTU CONDUCTED AN ONLINE WORKSHOP ON ‘INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS’ IN ASSOCIATION WITH (RGNIIPM) ON 28 FEB 2023

ACIC-SGTU in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Government of India, conducted an online workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights and Patent and Design Filing’ on the 28th of February. Mr. Himanshu Chandrakar, the subject matter expert who is an examiner of patent and design at RGNIIPM, explained various filing processes, document write-ups, and the examination process for granting a patent, furthermore, this IPR workshop accounted for a whopping 175 participants, which includes community innovators, entrepreneur, students, and faculties. One of the highlights from the workshop was the discussion on the GI (geographical indication) tag, and how "Darjeeling Tea" has one, adding intangible economic value to the product, whereas "Kashmiri Kahwa" does not, making it have a much lower economic value than Darjeeling tea.
